Eliminates physical I/O overhead & disk wear: Removes all physical disk
writes by operating entirely in-memory. Prevents heavy write amplification /
wear on SSDs and avoids painful seek-time bottlenecks on HDDs during heavy
build suites.

Resolves OS-level file locking issues: Fixes persistent Windows failures
caused by unreleased handles during file delete/rename operations in CI and
local builds.

Restores cross-platform parity: Allows dropping workarounds like
@DisabledOnOs(OS.WINDOWS) and unifying test behavior across Linux, macOS, and
Windows.

Enables safe test parallelism: In-memory FileSystem instances provide
isolated virtual filesystems per test, allowing concurrent execution without
path collisions or disk I/O contention.

Cleans up test harness boilerplate: Removes fragile temp-file lifecycle
management (tear-down hooks, atomic delete helpers, failure-prone cleanup
logic). In-memory filesystems are garbage-collected/closed cleanly without
leaving artifacts.
