Nothing spectacular here, just got an idea, while reading [JavaLexer](https://github.com/apache/netbeans/blob/297109f9b8a7944568a6d3fcddcee3ef625ae717/java/java.lexer/src/org/netbeans/lib/java/lexer/JavaLexer.java#L1326). It may or may not improve the editor performance. I have done no measurements.
