GitHub user aqua-pro edited a discussion: Will Akka’s new Component APIs become
available?

Hello!

I’m trying to understand the future of Akka's new high-level APIs like [Event
Sourced Entities](https://doc.akka.io/java/event-sourced-entities.html), [Key
Value Entities](https://doc.akka.io/java/key-value-entities.html), and
[Views](https://doc.akka.io/java/views.html).

**docs:** https://doc.akka.io/java/components/index.html

They look great, but I’m unclear on whether they’re going to be available under
an Apache 2.0 license after 3 years because of the BSL, or if these APIs are
part of a permanent vendor lock-in path.

In other words, will they eventually be available for open-source or are they
tied to their platform cloud offerings?

If they will become open source, are there any plans to make them available on
Pekko?

I’d appreciate any clarification or community insights.

Thanks!
