While unfortunate, there is not much in this description to help in analysis. Elsewhere, you mentioned a colleague who used Artery remoting. Maybe that is the case here. There are 3 years of changes between Akka 2.6 and Pekko 1.2. Most of the changes were small but maybe 1 or more them have had unexpected impacts on performance. Some of changes were meant to improve performance but a lot of those relate to reducing allocations as opposed to fundamental rewrites. One big change was the switch to Netty 4 but I'm not sure if that affects this case. If you are not using remoting, maybe a Java profiler can help catch hotspots. If remoting/clustering are in use, maybe open telemetry or Kamon could help. Both have Pekko support.
