The reason this is important is that once you've settled on a chart that meets the need of the target audience, being able to easily iterate for additional audiences will help expand use of the system. Needing to mindlessly execute many clicks to reproduce the chart or to do a bunch of low value export/import actions is time not spent adding value to the data. This will cause adoption to slow and even stop, and may even to an impediment to new people picking up and maintaining the charts and dashboards that already exist.
