GitHub user alesnav created a discussion: [Q] Minimum permissions required for
non-technical users to export charts (PNG, CSV, Excel)
Hi team,
I'm working on a Superset 5.0.0 deployment with strict RBAC and RLS enabled.
I'm trying to configure a base role for non-technical users who can:
- View dashboards
- Apply filters
- Use drill to detail
- Export chart data to:
- PNG
- CSV
- Excel
**Current status**
Users can view dashboards, interact with filters and drill down.
Permissions granted to the role:
<img width="1010" height="141" alt="image"
src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/91f647a1-7d61-4f8e-8d32-cd2f410f537c"
/>
**Problem**
Even with all these permissions, the `Download` option does not appear in the
chart menu for this role. Only admins can see and use it over the same charts.
I'm working on a base role with minimum permissions for a non-technical user.
So, anyone with this role should not have access to the SQL query, editing the
chart, and so on. They only need visualizations, filters and exporting options.
What are the exact minimum permissions needed for a non-admin user to export
chart data in PNG/CSV/Excel?
One more thing. I see that this same role does have access to export the whole
Dashboard, even if the permission "can export on Dashboard" is not granted for
them. Ijust don't understand this.
Thanks for your support!
