Regarding metric/column separation, I think there are 2 separate problems: ### Knowing what's a metric and what's a column (dimension) Clearly differentiating between metrics and dimensions is crucial because it determines how you build and interpret your visualizations. Metrics are the quantitative values you want to analyze—like totals, averages, or counts—while dimensions are the fields you use to segment or filter your data, such as time, location, or category. I agree with @villebro that it's important to differentiate these concepts. ### Knowing which data can be used when interacting with the controls We already provide feedback for users during dragging interactions, showing allowed and not allowed drop zones. It would also be interesting to filter the columns/metrics on the left sidebar when selecting controls that can receive columns/metrics. For example, when selecting the Dimensions control, only dimensions are showed on the left sidebar. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
