Thanks @shivamgoel for the proposal! The current chart data endpoint with it's bloated QueryContext/QueryObject models is painful to work with, and I agree that there should be a Dataset endpoint that makes it possible to easily issue queries against a dataset, rather than having it under the Chart resource. This also aligns well with the planned viz extension roadmap, where the plan is to move chart query generation from the frontend to the backend.
