I traced the emitted SQL on this branch and for `dashboards` the discarded one is `SELECT count(*) FROM (<the whole DashboardAccessFilter subquery with its five LEFT OUTER JOINs>)`. Since this tool is built to be called repeatedly by an assistant, a `with_count` opt-out on `BaseDAO.list` would halve that. Fine as a follow-up if you would rather not touch the DAO here. ########## superset/mcp_service/catalog/tool/get_catalog.py: ########## @@ -0,0 +1,424 @@ +# Licensed to the Apache Software Foundation (ASF) under one +# or more contributor license agreements. I booted this branch twice over the same 162 datasets, once on the default cap and once with `SQLALCHEMY_DAO_MAX_PAGE_SIZE = 100`: ``` default cap: page 1 items=100 next=True, page 2 items=62 next=False (162 walked) cap of 100: page 1 items=100 next=False (100 walked) ``` The second run answers `next_cursor: null` and `truncated: false`, so the caller has no way to know it saw 100 of 162. The list tools do not have this shape because they hand back `total_count` next to the page. Clamping the request rather than the result would close it: ```python max_rows = int(current_app.config.get("SQLALCHEMY_DAO_MAX_PAGE_SIZE", 1000) or 1000) limit = min(limit, max(max_rows - 1, 1)) ``` A test that sets `SQLALCHEMY_DAO_MAX_PAGE_SIZE` to 100 and walks 162 rows to the end would pin it; it fails today. ########## superset/mcp_service/catalog/tool/get_catalog.py: ########## @@ -0,0 +1,424 @@ +# Licensed to the Apache Software Foundation (ASF) under one +# or more contributor license agreements. Review Comment: Question, not a blocker: the docstring tells the model the page size and the byte bound but not the ordering. `_fetch_rows` sorts by `id` ascending, so on the 302-dashboard instance I booted from this branch page 1 came back as the two oldest dashboards followed by the oldest of the bulk, and an assistant that asks "what dashboards are there?" and reads only page 1 is answering from the oldest 100. The sibling list tools default to `changed_on` descending. Was `id` picked purely to keep the keyset cursor single column? If so, either a composite `(changed_on, id)` cursor or one line here saying the page is oldest first would keep the model honest about what it is looking at. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
