Merged latest master in `6115764833`. The `UPDATING.md` conflict is resolved by retaining both release notes. The cache implementation and all direct/containment cache-key components are preserved. Validation passed: 1,459 focused Python tests, 12 cache-pill Jest tests, changed-file pre-commit hooks, and the normal push coverage gate. GitHub reports this head as mergeable. The `hold!` label remains in place; this update does not change the dependency on #45100 or mark the PR ready for merge. Merge prepared by Codex, with an independent Claude review of the exact merged tree.
