Just realized also that I didn't touch the JDiff stuff and that is also broken.
Can we get rid of it, or should I apply the same treatment to it? How do we
make this decision?
Edit: I don't think there is a Java 11 compatible version of JDiff out there,
so in essence we'd need to reimplement the whole thing ourselves.
