For sale is a unique prototype Pivot Wing handlaunch glider co- designed by Mark Treibes and Ron Vann. This is a one of a kind handlaunch and it is the only one I know of in existence. Some History: In early 1993 Mark Triebes and Ron Vann of Spectrum Enterprises developed this pivot wing handlaunch. During the time of developing this prototype, approximately three planes were built and flown. In July 1993, I bought one of the built planes. This handlaunch sailplane has been in storage ever since.
Model details are as follows: Model Name: Montero Airfoil: E374 (I think?) Weight: (not sure, I don't have an oz scale. You can bet it is light since it was constructed by the folks from Spectrum Enterprises. I imagine the total flying weight would be under 12-13 oz.) Wingspan: 57 inches (wingtip to wingtip w/wings mounted on fuse) Root Chord: 7.25 inches Tip Chord: 5 inches Wing Construction: Obeechi over 1.5 lb density white foam, Carbon fiber wing tube with carbon fiber unidirectional fiber above and below wing tube. Wing tube supported with a med/hard balsa spar. Wing has circular cutouts for weight reduction. Inner strengthener at trailing edge. VTail: 90 degrees, fixed, Solid balsa with circular cutouts Covering: Ultracote, Red Fuse: Slide on nose cone, Unidirectional Carbon fiber reinforced, epoxy glass Wing Rod: carbon fiber Controls: Fuse has bell-crank, ball linkages installed, one NES-341 Servo installed (need two servos to control each wing) Setup: Written Airtronics Vision 8SP Setup included (a real time saver for the person setting up this airplane) Overall condition: Very good considering its age. Does need some minor cosmetic touch ups. My perference is to sell this plane to someone in the South Bay area to avoid potential shipping problems with the fixed V-Tail.
