I guess the announcement below will certainly interest the NOX-dev
community, as it includes a fork of NOX Zaku with a version 1.2 oflib
and two sample applications that use the new v1.2 APIs.

Subject: [openflow-discuss] Ericsson and CPqD release OpenFlow 1.2 Tool Kit
To: [email protected]

Dear OpenFlow community,

in a collaborative project between Ericsson Research, Ericsson in
Brazil and CPqD, the team members have developed a tool kit of
OpenFlow 1.2 software components consisting of (i) software switch,
(ii) NOX controller, (iii) wireshark plug-in, and (iv) OFTest cases.
The open-source software kit is the first comprehensive OpenFlow
version 1.2 environment to let the research community put their
software-defined networking (SDN) thoughts in practice.

The switch implementation prioritizes OpenFlow 1.2 feature compliance
and overall correctness. To this end, the kit also includes an
OpenFlow version 1.2 Wireshark plug-in to analyze the protocol
traffic, and test cases based on the OpenFlow Test (OFTest) framework.
Altogether, users can experiment, for instance, with IPv6 traffic and
the newly introduced OpenFlow Extensible Match (OXM) flow format.

The release includes also the first OpenFlow version 1.2 controller
based on the popular NOX controller. User-friendly APIs are present to
aid controller application developers in defining flow fields and
actions without requiring them to deal with TLV-based OXM fields. The
learning switch and hub applications have been ported as the first
v1.2 sample applications.

To ease the hands-on approach to the tool kit, a fully pre-configured
VM has been put together, which includes all the components mentioned
above in addition to the Mininet emulation environment to experiment
with larger OpenFlow version 1.2 networks. A companion tutorial is
under ongoing development:

The project welcomes users and contributors to get involved! The team
is moving now to implement v1.3, while will maintain v1.2 and
hopefully count with contributions from the community.
