Hi I was wondering if NOX is still active and under development, because the last update was in February, no changes have been made to the public GIT repo and also the website/documentation wasn't updated since then. My problem is that I am to evaluate OpenFlow for my University and for that i was setting up a test network using the OpenFlow reference switch system on Linux hosts. For controlling that network, i want to use NOX, because all of the OpenFlow-people say "use nox" when asked about a controller. I was able to install and run nox_core with basic switch functionality but not more, because there is no documentation for the modules, no comments in the sourcecode, no details about the modules on the website etc which makes it really hard to do something reasonable with NOX to use the benefits of OpenFlow.
So my questions are: - Will Nox be further developed and DOCUMENTED in the future? - Is there any module/method as of today to set simple flows with nox (without much coding involved)? - I was on the GEC3 conference demos of openflow/nox that they used modules like mobilevms, spannig_tree etc... are this modules still available anywhere? (didn't find them in the nox repo). - What does the topology/discovery module actually do? I was'nt able to find any network topology data in the sqlite database... - Where are webserver/webservice modules, but they throw exceptions (undefined vars etc..). What is their purpose and who did develop them? Perhaps I can help to fix and improve them.. - Are there any other (GUI) tools to controll an openflow network? I would be happy if anyone could answer some of the questions ;), thanks in advance Regards Nicolas (i was wiriting this message to both nox and openflow lists because the projects rely both on each other (also openflow on nox, because the developers use/suggest using nox everywhere in the wiki and their demos ;) ) _______________________________________________ nox-dev mailing list [email protected] http://noxrepo.org/mailman/listinfo/nox-dev_noxrepo.org
