"Inspiration"
Inspiration running through my mind,
of all the wonders I have yet to find.
I had a love,
but she left me behind.
I thought I was her one and only,
isn't life so unkind.
I try not to think of pleasure,
I try not to think of pain.
I wish I had my baby back to love me all over again.
You tell me,
what the hell is pleasure?
You tell me,
what is pain?
When I find myself crying,
and walking in the rain.
Oh! Lord I can't stand the pain!
Please let me love again.
I wrote this for Prince as he has always been a inspiration to me when it
came to writing my intimate poems. Yet the subject of this poem was a
young
man I
met in Germany, who was in the military. He was there for R&R. We use to
write poetry together. He was sent to Viet Nam, and was there for only 3
days
before he was killed. He was my soulmate, that was in 70. It took me until
82 to
really love anyone else. So my poem is about a lost love.
