[ns] Installation problem of ns-2.1b8a

During installing ns-2.1b8a on RedHat Linux 8.0,     I am facing the 
following problem
                      ns make failed (trace.o not found) one error.
            machine configuration:pentium 4
                                                   :main board-845,  
ram-384Mb
