The "someone" in question is fully aware that Billy Pigg was a law 
unto himself, and frequently used non-standard methods to achieve his 
sometimes very spectacular (and occasionally spectacularly awful) 
effects.
However I don't think this particular effect should be recommended to 
normal mortals, and in particular beginners who may not yet have a 
thorough understanding of Billy's place in the tradition. I would 
recommend some of his exceedingly good tunes, played at a sane speed.
