Hello hope we have more nas box users here? Most boxes are bottlenecked with higer protocols like ftp or ssh so backups took horrible times. But smb / nfs shares are basic features of such boxes, there are high troughputs available. I tested deja dup last days, it use simply the connections from nautilus favorites, all possible variations.
