I don't think you can do anything like that with Win2k TS. One of the features that Citrix has that MS doesn't is very wide platform support.
To use terminal services, you need to run an RDP client (instead of an X Server). Officially the Terminal Services client ONLY runs under Win32 platforms (Read: Must be running Microsoft Windows). Un officially, there is a unix RDP client here: http://www.rdesktop.org/) But you still have to run the RDP client software. Your X terminals will not directly support it unless you can load software on them. You may be able to install the software on your unix host, then throw an X session back to the terminal, then from within that session you could run the RDP client on your unix server, and effectively see the Terminal Server Desktop from your X Terminals. Does that all make sence? --Andrew Duey, MCSE -----Original Message----- From: Bud DAWSON [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, October 05, 2001 3:07 PM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: Accessing Terminal Services from X-Terminal I am currently running a Citrix Winframe server, permitting users with NCD X-Terminals to run Windows applications (at the same time as they connect to their Unix environment from the same terminal) I now have installed Windows 2000 Terminal Services as a trial, and it looks to be a good alternative. However, to connect to the Terminal Services server I have to download and install the "tsclient" What do I do to connect from the x-terminal to the TS server. (With winframe, the user issues a command like this: rsh <servername> wincenter -display $DISPLAY$ where the variable $DISPLAY points to the IP address of the x-terminal Any suggestions will be appreciated Thanks Cheers Bud Dawson [EMAIL PROTECTED] ------ You are subscribed as [email protected] Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
