Thanks Tony. I will try your suggested group policy. I have resolved my
NIC errors without fully understanding how yet at this moment.

I have created $oem$\$1\drivers\nic ... beneath directory of \i386. Good
news is I have not encountered the mentioned errors anymore since. Bad
news is it did not install any of my created drivers stored at $oem$.
The process has provided me a complete but a standalone Windows 2000
professional environment only. What have I done wrong? To cheat as a
temporary solution, I have completed the remaining setting using
RIPPREP.

Question 1)
Yes, you can. Create a group policy that applies to the users doing the
RIS'ing. Go to User Config | Windows Settings | Remote Installation
Service
and enable the Custom Setup option. This will prompt you for a
workstation
name after you've logged in.

Question 2)
At what point are you receiving your error?
If you're using RIPrep, it's HAL specific. So if you take an image of a
Dell
with a 3Com NIC, and the try to paste it onto an IBM with an Intel
onboard
NIC, it ain't gonna go.

Subject: RIS questions

Dear fellows,

Though I am still learning, I believe RIS & RIPREP would be the ideal
for my
working place. I have 2 difficulties as the following:-

1. May I know if I can & if so how to enforce my company's computer
naming
convention rather than using RIS wizard ?

2. In my testing, I am using Compaq EVO Pentium 4 as my Windows 2000
professional and RIS server. I constantly receive error as shown from
workstation and unable to load my built RIS image from RIS server.

The operating system image you selected does not contain the necessary
drivers for your network adapter......., etc.

Please help....as I am given 2 more days to meet the deadline. Thank
you.
