The closest you can get to low level with a current ATA or SCSI drive is a
medium level format which simply reinitializes it back to its factory state.
This does, however, erase all information on the drive including the boot
partition.

There's a utility at http://www.computing.net/faq/contentdos/badsector.html.
As long as you BIOS sees the correct information at startup, a boot disk
utility should be able to format the drive. Note: it's said that it is best
to get the LLF utility from your hard drive manufacturer that is
specifically made for your drive. I don't know exactly why that is...

There's NO way to go back from Dynamic Disks once you've converted.

By zero the hard drive, I mean run a low-level format. This writes all
zeros to every sector on the hard drive, essentially "scrubbing" it free
of any ghost information, including volume and partition info.

If I have a disk that is now dynamic but I need to bring it back to
basic on a Win2k machine, what files need to be on a floppy for me to
accomplish this?
