I just recently set up a Windows 2000 server machine, it's the secondary
WINS, and DHCP server. Now I've got DHCP and WINS configured correctly and
infact both are working, but originally I was getting this weird BROWSER
event INFO and ERROR logs (Event ID's 8021, 8032). Plus I noticed that after
Dialing into this machine (forgot to mention I was making it our RRAS
server) I was unable to browse the network neighborhood. Well my issue is
that yesterday (day after fully installing everything) I applied Service
Pack 2 and rebooted at noon. Now afterwards I tested the Dial Up connections
again and was able to browse the network neighborhood, Plus No more of those
event ID's 8021 & 8032. UNTILL this morning when we rebooted all our servers
except this one, and at approximately 7:50AM when the PDC was rebooted and
came back up that's when I started receiving the Browser event ID 8021 &
8032, plus on the PDC machine NOW I'm seeing an Event ID 4319 Source: NetBT
: A duplicate name has been detected on the TCP network. The IP address of
the machine that sent the message is in the data. Use nbtstat -n in a
command window to see which name is in the Conflict state. I do this and
Administrator comes up as CONFLICT. Now I'm really confused, Administrator?
I thought I was going to find a machine name or IP. Anyway just to get
everyone on the same page EVENT ID 8021 is The browser was unable to
retrieve a list of servers from the browser master \\PDC_NAME on the network
\Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{32D01C2A-EFFF-462B-90F9-7F863316D05D}. The data is the
error code. EVENT ID 8032 is The browser service has failed to retrieve the
backup list too many times on transport
\Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{32D01C2A-EFFF-462B-90F9-7F863316D05D}. The backup
browser is stopping. I've checked Microsoft's KB and I seem to be alwayse
coming to dead ends as to what to do to ultimately resolve this. PLEASE ANY
INSIGHT WOULD BE APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!!
