Greetings, Due to the __TREMENDOUS__ amount of requests for older FUSE kernel module support, here it is. It's very interesting that this was far the most often asked feature for the stable release.
The capability of the FUSE kernel module is automatically detected and used. Upgrading the FUSE kernel module will not require ntfs-3g reinstallation. Please note, the recommended FUSE kernel module is available in the official Linux kernels since version 2.6.20-rc1 and in the FUSE 2.6.x software packages. Ntfs-3g should also work again on 2.4 kernels if the FUSE user space is 2.6.x and the FUSE kernel driver is earlier, e.g. FUSE 2.5.3. Other common requests for the stable release were (these are not yet implemented): - running under an unprivileged user account - more write performance improvements - the documented issues at http://www.ntfs-3g.org/support.html most importantly full file timestamps support Thank you for contributing to the roadmap! Google has ported FUSE to Mac OS X and it's said that Amit Singh has demonstrated ntfs-3g running on Mac OS X at Macworld 2007 last week: http://www.osxbook.com/blog/2007/01/11/macworld-2007-file-systems-talk-and-macfuse/ http://code.google.com/p/macfuse/ Freely available precompiled packages and installation hints for Mac OS X: http://osx.iusethis.com/app/macfuse http://forums.applenova.com/showpost.php?p=432791&postcount=11 Csaba Henk has released ublio and integrated it into ntfs-3g which works on both FreeBSD and Linux. Ublio is a block based I/O caching layer. The experiments are ongoing, so the code is not yet commited: http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.file-systems.ntfs-3g.devel/2/focus=2 The only major changes in this release are * new: top request: support old FUSE kernel modules * fix: ActiveSync didn't work via Samba 3.0 Major contributors were Rein Ketelaars, Yuval Fledel, Patrick McLean, Florent Mertens, Dominique L Bouix, Roland Kletzing, Alexey Marushchenko, and Miklos Szeredi. The latest BETA driver is available from http://www.ntfs-3g.org/index.html#download Enjoy, Szaka ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys. Earn Cash.
