If you dual boot with windows : - boot on windows - plug your external device - unmount cleanly your device by using the 'safely remove hardware' icon in the windows taskbar notification area - unplug your device - boot on ubuntu and plug again. That should work. If you don't have windows, you don't have others choice than configuring your external device in fstab. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
