You don't need to wonder because I keep telling for about six years how
many bugs CHKDSK has, some of them are serious. This is one of the main
reasons I wrote ntfsclone in 2003 and recommend people to use it before
running CHKDSK, so they can restore the files CHKDSK removes due to its
bugs.
It's funny (or sad?) but today the world has no reliable NTFS recovery
(fsck) tool. Not only on Linux but not on Windows either.

I doubt Microsoft would "fix" it, since they are very well aware of it for
a long time (I bet these files would be removed if NTFS-3G created them not
in the POSIX but in the WIN32 filename namespace), in fact they keep saying
NTFS Unicode is unvalidated, and more importantly then they would break
existing software.
