Something is apparently wrong with your device or device driver. The kernel 
should have logged the reason, please check it out in your kernel logs.

What is your disk and contoller? Did you create basic or dynamic NTFS? 
Do you use EVMS or something like that? Can you mount other NTFS devices?
Can you try a different kernel? Whatever kernel, just diffferent "enough".
