Hi,

Accompanying the candidate release of an ntfs-3g version with unlimited file
creation support, it is my pleasure to announce the release for beta-testing
of an ntfs-3g version with improved file ownership and access rights support
and full support of Posix ACLs.

ntfs-3g-1.2926SB.1 is based on the new release candidate ntfs-3g-1.2926-RC
and is fully compatible with it.

Also released is ntfs-3g.1.2918SR.1 which is a stable release with Posix
ACLs
not integrated by default. It has the known bugs fixed from previous
versions,
and no new features.

A user mapping file has to defined and mounting options adapted for the
access control to be effective. Moreover the Posix ACL features are optional
and controlled by a compile-time option which is not activated by default in
the downloadable files.

Main improvements and fixes in ntfs-3g-1.2926SB.1 :

- full support of Posix access control, including Posix ACLs
- access control done by fuse when Posix ACLs are not used
- direct access to the native NTFS ACLs
- owner and root may now be designated users and groups in a Posix ACL
- full UTF16 to UTF8 translations (based on a development by Bernhard
Kaindl)
- fixes specific to big-endian computers
- fixes specific to Posix ACLs

Due to a problem in the fuse architecture, files created in a directory with
a default ACL still get the umask applied, so the files are created
overprotected when ~umask is a subset of the default ACL.
No work around is known so far.

Detailed information, source files, and RPMs for Fedora are available on :

This is a release for beta-testing and undocumented problems may occur.
You are therefore advised to backup your important data.
If you should have any problem, please report on the project mailing list
(email [EMAIL PROTECTED]) with detailed information about the
conditions in which the problem occurred.

Regards

Jean-Pierre
