what is wrong with the following code?

it gives me:
!: Missing number, treated as zero.
ha, a few days ago i ran into that as well, in core-not:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] % local box
[EMAIL PROTECTED] % local box^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
add that line in \definefootnote
