There's another issue: \startX ... \stopX and \start[X] ... \stop are
treated differently.
In my scenario, the start/stop environments are used like so:
\startxmlsetups xml:div
% Capture attributes as variables.
\setvariable{div}{\xmlatt{#1}{class}}{#1}
\start[\xmlatt{#1}{class}]\xmlflush{#1}\stop{}
\stopxmlsetups
Paragraph columns using \startcontact behave as expected; however, using
\start[contact] results in the sidebar address being ignored.
Any idea why there's a difference between \start[contact] and
\startcontact with respect to the start/stop setups?
