It looks like a reminder of the notes to use by a priest when chanting the 
verse.[1]

However, I find it unlikely that a priest would need to be reminded of the 
notes to use when singing "amen" at the end so it might just be a reminder that 
the verse is to be sung? Or simply nice typography.
