If I understand you correctly, you can get this by a custom 
environment. For example

\def\startMYLAYOUT%
    {\begingroup
      whatever settings you want}

\def\stopMYLAYOUT{\endgroup\endgraf}

and then you can use

\startMYLAYOUT
....
\stopMYLAYOUT

in your text.
