What do you want seems to be not possible but you could use the
following solution although it is better to define a new command.

\let\normalin\in

\definereferenceformat
  [figref]
  [left=\normal,
   text=\normal Figure,
   command=\normalin]

\let\in\figref

\starttext

\placefigure
  [here][fig:det]
  {Example}
  {\blackrule[width=3cm,height=3cm]}

\it See \in[fig:det] for details.
