Funny enough, but when I provide after={\nowhitespace} in \setuphead
[section] in the latest mkiv beta, it affects *subsection* instead.
(That is, subsection's afterspace is eaten).
Full code:
\setuphead [section][
number=yes, align=right, after={\nowhitespace},
style={\switchtobodyfont[arialblack]\bf}]
