Another urgent problem:
how to get rid of placefigure and startcombination captions altogether?
When I use the following, I get too much wasted space after the
illustration.
\placefigure
[fit]
{none}
{\startcombination[4*1]
{\externalfigure[serg1][width=4cm]} {}
{\externalfigure[serg2][width=4cm]} {}
{\externalfigure[serg3][width=4cm]} {}
{\externalfigure[serg4][width=4cm]} {}
\stopcombination}
