I remember some time ago an analogous issue was reported on the list, but it
seems that the problem is solved by now.
You can patch
\setuplayout[location=]
as this was set to middle for a while as side effect of the map onto
itself addition. Actually that feature (for aditya) is also tricky as it
does not yet listen to landscape, but i just wait till aditya runs into
that side effect before fixing it.
