In math-ini.mkiv, both \blackboard and \bbd have exactly the same
definition:

\unexpanded\def\bbd       {\ifmmode\expandafter\mathblackboard\fi}
\unexpanded\def\blackboard{\ifmmode\expandafter\mathblackboard\fi}
