Hello Hans,
it seems that with the split option the body font setting from tabulate is also
applied to the float caption.

\startbuffer
\setuptabulate[bodyfont=small]
\starttabulate
\NC test \NC test \NC\NR
\stoptabulate
\stopbuffer
\placetable[split]{Should be in normal font size}{\getbuffer}
\stoptext
