What has happened to the joinedup parameter of \startitemize? As can be seen in the following minimal example, the \setupwhitespace effectively kills the effect of the joinedup. Making it impossible to typeset preceding text and item list close together. I can barely believe that this side effect of \setupwhitespace is inentional.
