Just FYI: I fired up a partition into which I had installed Zenwalk,
which is pure Slackware with some eye candy, and installed context.
Everything went as expected. So this is not a problem with slackware,
but with your particular configuration. Is there any other tex
installation on your system? How is your PATH variable set? Do you run
any scripts at login?
