yes there are windows versions, but just as rudimentary and no text
selection (copy)

Maybe this is broken (as Luigi suggests) or requires some special
setup/configuration?
I was refereing to a textual copy, not an image one. So one selects
'abc' and gets 'abc' (with the right unicodes).
