I do my development under RedHat 8, so I absolutely disagree that ntop doesn't run 
under 8.  I build the rpms under 7.3 (UML builder doesn't work for 8 because of a 
RedHat rpm problem) (besides, it's stable so why muck w/ success).

The deadlock problem (discussed in another message today, in fact) seems to occur more 
w/ gcc 3.2 than it did w/ 2.9x, but that's a matter of degree.
