I'll look into it, but you're probably right about just using the same code. However, it's not the same situation, as the rrd plugin doesn't run a web server. The extant web server (which already has the SIGPIPE handler) is what feeds the requests into the rrd plugin. So the SIGPIPEs are being generated by some other situation.
Please collect and post the gdb backtraces (bt full, plus some judicious frame n and list commands). NB that the complexity in that code is so that it's possible to debug ntop - otherwise the SIGPIPEs cause gdb to interrupt. "Also, the SIGPIPE problem seems to be more widespread than some of the code comments imply, although it does seem to be related to using Internet Explorer as the Browser." If you look back at WHEN that was written, it's not surprising that other browsers have since copied the basic behavior. IIRC I had issues with betas of Galeon and one other under Linux.
