Uhh, any input on the problems? I'd love to run ntop and actually
offered to write docs (I did for SVN and mailed them to the Versions
people) but no one has any helpful info to help?
I'd love to write a basic get up and running on ntop for other Mac
users but to do that I need some help getting up and running first.
Anyone out there?

As with most command line tools, we need simple "get up and
running" user docs. I've seen the admins request this often, often
with frustration.
I'm willing to write a "get up and running" basic doc geared to mac
users who fear the command line if any of the admins has the time
to spend helping on this.

Do I need to remove the leading minus signs?
