I found the ntop-misc list at http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/ntop/misc/ then located thread 29576 "nprobe requires administrative rights. Thus if you do not open a cmd.exe ad administrator, the system will open a new shell as root. Please open cmd.exe as root and start nprobe from then and everything will work " From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Newlon, Phil Sent: Wednesday, October 17, 2012 9:21 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [Ntop-misc] nprobe windows command line options I am testing with the demo version of nprobe for windows. Using the installer settings, the only flows I received were "out" from the interface, "in" always showed 0 bytes and packets. I used "nprobe /r nProbe" command to remove the service. Now I want to find the interface names and other available settings so I try the command "nprobe /c -h" which spawns a new command prompt window. That window remains open for a few seconds then closes so I can't view the information in it. The OS is Windows Server 2008 SP1. Any thoughts on why a new window is spawned with the /c option that then closes? Is there a way around this that you know of? Thanks!
