I was having the same problem, but normal behavior suddenly returned,
and everything is working properly now.

I've been testing the beta for Ubuntu Karmic, so I was thinking that it
may have been something to do with that. I get tons of packages updates
everyday, so I just assumed that something somewhere had been corrected
at some point.

I've been using the current 3.3 Ubuntu package of ntop for Karmic.
