I am trying to install NTOP 3.4_Pre2 on Ubuntu 8.04.3, 32bit. Over and over
and over, autogen.sh will quit saying I need to install GeoIP. I have
installed just about every package related to GeoIP I can on Ubuntu. I have
downloaded and installed the GeoLiteCity.dat, according to
http://blogama.org/node/56 and installed GeoIPASNum.dat the same way.
After the first failure of Autogen, I noticed that there were GeoIP files under
the ntop-3.4-pre2 directory. I gunziped those also hoping configure would find
those and use them, but nope, didn't work. I also untared the GeoIP.tar.gz
file, ran the configure, make, make check, make install on that but still,
ntop's configure still quits saying:

Removing dups and misplaced entries from LIBS and INCS...
checking for GeoIP_record_by_ipnum in -lGeoIP... no
Please install GeoIP (http://www.maxmind.com/)

Can anyone help me get past this? I know the Ubuntu package works fine, but
I'd rather use newer code than 2007.
