Hi,

Thanks for the reply. :) Yeah I am aware of the RRD plugin in NTOP.

I'd like to know, are the RRD files saved per dump interval being read/ rendered by NTOP automatically after a restart? Like I don't need to use another program to have those files read/graphed in NTOP? Or if it is not NTOP, is the RRD plugin auto reads all the dump files after NTOP restart? Or do I need to write special instruction to the RRD to make it read all those dump files after NTOP restart?

This is really a long question, I'm sorry and thank u.

Is NTOP passing the data it has in memory to the RRD plugin for the RRD plugin to graph the data? If so, how do I tell NTOP to also pass the dump files so the RRD plugin can also graph the data in the dump files?

Thanks very much...
Det

There's an rrd graphing util within ntop, or yes, I'm sure you could use other programs as well.

Hi,

Hahaha. Thank you. The rrd files that it saves, are they being read/ used/rendered automatically in NTOP after a restart? Or are these files only meant to be used by another 3rd party software? Meaning i need another program that can process it?

I saw the remote program plugin, possible to use this to hook NTOP data to 3rd party program?

Thanks very much.

Exactly, never restart it! :). Check out the rrd files, if you adjust the setting in the rrd plugin it does save some decent data. Also, there are other ways to save some data, some elegant - others not so much..

Hi all,

Sorry, I'm NTOP newbie. This may sound stupid. But I'm just wondering, if NTOP is not able to retain data after a restart, what usually do most of you do? Just be careful not to restart NTOP?

Thanks a lot.
