I'm new to ntopng, and am also interested in learning more about ntopng functionality
It looks to me like ntopng is just a 'what-is-happening-now' tool, like 'top' on Unix, hence the new splunk application mentioned in the blog, for reporting purposes. Is my assumption correct? Does ntopng retain information for (example) the local matrix if it is stopped and restarted? Or does it start fresh? In any case, I would still like to learn about Ntopng's functionality. For example, a previous poster (referring to ntop, I think) mentions 'alerts.' The Ntopng User's guide doesn't address alerts; if ntopng can produce alerts, where can I read about them? Or about general functionality and use-cases for ntopng?
