I'm having one hell of a time with installing NTOP on Slackware. If anyone
could offer any suggestions, I would really appreciate it.
If I download and untar ntop-1.1-slackware.tgz (the Slackware distro of 1.1)
I get a Segmentation Fault on running 'ntop'.
If I download EITHER v1.3.1 or Oct-26 source distributions, I get numerous
errors in the configure script - first of all, the configure cannot
determine the host architecture:
checking host system type... configure: error: can not guess host type; you
must specify one
which I can get around on the command line (./configure -host=i686)
However, then I get an error saying the C compiler (gcc) cannot
compile executables. If I comment out the 'exit' in configure on this,
I get an error saying the C++ compiler cannot compile executables.
checking for ranlib... ranlib
checking for gcc... gcc
checking whether the C compiler (gcc ) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler cannot
create executables.
...
checking for c++... c++
checking whether the C++ compiler (c++ ) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C++ compiler cannot
create executables.
Commenting out this exit, the configure command runs right through,
but then the make command brings up the same error about the C compiler
not being able to create executables...
