Whilst diagnosing an awful cablemodem setup at home, I started using ntop to help. I was getting about 25% of packets seen being too long. I'm guessing that the hardware on their end is crappy. Anyway, the ntop oddity I'm reporting is that I see several hundred packets reported in the "too long" field, but there's always a 0 in the >1518 bytes field.
